AnimalKind's mission is to end the unnecessary euthanasia of adoptable cats and dogs in North Carolina shelters.
Just over a week ago, on a cold and rainy Saturday morning, a group of over 20 dedicated volunteers and staff members gathered together to deliver vaccinations and basic essentials to cats and dogs in need in Yanceyville, NC.
The Humane Society of the United States provided free Rabies and discounted Distemper/Parvo vaccines to qualified pets with help from Vance County Animal Shelter. Licensed veterinarians Dr. Christine Frenzel, DVM, and Dr. Michelle Lennox, DVM, generously donated their time to vaccinate 108 cats and dogs.
Bonnie’s Animal Rescue Kingdom provided donations of pet food to owners in need, and the Humane Society of the United States offered free collars, leashes, and toys for pets that did not have them.
AnimalKind was onsite to offer information about THE $20 FIX program and other local pet resources, and Caswell Pet Lifeline was available to sign people up for monthly spay/neuter clinics.
Without all of the dedicated people and organizations who came out to help that morning our pet vaccine clinic would not have been a possibility. We are also grateful to the Yanceyville VFW for allowing our clinic to use their Fairgrounds for our location.
Rabies and Distemper vaccines that remained after the clinic were donated to the Animal Protection Society of Caswell County for use on shelter pets, and to a Yanceyville-area veterinarian to continue to donate vaccination services to pet owners unable to afford the cost.
