How do I sign up to volunteer?

Simply call or email ReTails Thrift Shop to get started! A ReTails representative will contact you within about 48 hours to arrange your volunteer orientation visit."
If you'd like, you may also download and complete a Volunteer Profile Form. (If not, we'll get the critical information from you during your orientation.)
What do ReTails volunteers do?

ReTails Thrift Shop depends on volunteers for its everyday operations.
Our volunteers receive donations, sort and prepare donations for selling, restock merchandise, keep the shop clean, and explain our mission to customers. They also answer telephone calls, respond to emails, keep records, and provide professional services.
ReTails is a clean, fun and stimulating environment to be in! Our volunteers love animals and want to help end their suffering. They also love seeing (and buying) the interesting treasures that are donated to ReTails by our supporters. We don't handle animals, so no animal experience is needed.
As a new volunteer, you will complete a Volunteer Profile Form, attend an Orientation Tour, and train with other volunteers or staff members.
Shifts are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening-weekdays or weekends. The length and frequency of your shifts depends on your availability.
Read about some of our volunteer opportunities by visiting the AnimalKind listings at VolunteerMatch.
How will my volunteer time make a difference?

100% of net profits from ReTails Thrift Shop support AnimalKind's pet spay/neuter assistance programs, THE $20 FIX and SpayNC Helpline. The time you volunteer at ReTails prevents unwanted litters of puppies and kittens, and reduces shelter intake and euthanasia at its source.
Other Volunteer Opportunities

ReTails Thrift Shop is where the greatest number of AnimalKind volunteers are needed, and it is a great place to get familiar with our organization and mission.
However, there are other opportunities to apply your time and talent to the mission--chatting with the public at community events, keeping THE $20 FIX applications stocked in the community, researching NC's spay/neuter programs, calling AnimalKind's supporters to check in, and a variety of interesting tasks in other areas.
Please visit VolunteerMatch or simply contact AnimalKind and let us know your areas of interest.
