AnimalKind's mission is to end the unnecessary euthanasia of adoptable cats and dogs in North Carolina shelters.
AnimalKind is thrilled to announce that through THE $20 FIX we have now spayed/neutered 20,240 animals since the inception of the program in 2004! We are so proud in the knowledge that, with the hard work and dedication of our staff, donors, and volunteers, we have been able to help prevent thousands of accidental litters and assist in lowering the North Carolina sheltered animal population.
Sadly, too many sheltered animals are euthanized every year in the United States due to overcrowding, with over thousands of those needless deaths occurring right here in North Carolina. Research indicates that 80% of pet overpopulation comes from as few as 3% of pet owners who are unable to afford the cost of the spay/neuter surgery. Thankfully, with programs like THE $20 FIX, SpayNC Helpline, and the proceeds from ReTails Thrift Shop, AnimalKind is making significant strides in combating the overpopulation of North Carolina pets.
Pet overpopulation and the subsequent euthanasia of adoptable pets is a sobering issue to contemplate at any time of year, but without the preventative work of organizations like AnimalKind, we will continue to see the unnecessary death toll rise. AnimalKind will continue to work towards the goal of eliminating the unnecessary euthanasia of all adoptable cats and dogs in NC shelters with the help of all the life-saving work our donors, volunteers and staff!
